The Giants have taken Jason Pierre-Paul off of the physically unable to perform (PUP) List. Pierre-Paul has been recovering from back surgery in June and is hoping to be ready in time for the Giants season opener against Dallas on September 8th.
Pierre-Paul won’t play in the preseason, however he’s free now to crank it up another notch on the practice field. The expectations are heavy for Pierre-Paul when he does return to the Giants defense. That much was acknowledged from safety Antrel Rolle:
“He’s our best defensive playmaker, hands down, … with him having the surgery and trying to get him back to tip-top form, hopefully we are going to see a performance that he has never, ever shown us … We are looking for miraculous things out of JPP. And he is the type of guy that can give it to us.”
The Giants are going to need Pierre-Paul to deliver on those expectations if they intend on bouncing back from a down 2012 season statistically. However, he’s first going to have get back on the field.
